ESE PARENT ASSISTANT

Hendry County is fortunate to have Rhonda McLymont as a Parent Assistant.  She will provide information and home/school communication for families of students who receive ESE services.  She also coordinates workshops for parents on Individual Educational Plans (IEP) and effective methods of working with students on organization and study skills at home.  Mrs. McLymont is dedicated and can share personal experience, as she is the parent of an ESE student.

      This session will focus on the changes in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) due to IDEA 2009 and how to prepare for your child's IEP meeting.

        OVERVIEW PASSPORT TO SUCCESS

        Parents Assuring Students Success (PASS). This program is the overview of an eight-session program that reinforces the power of parents, and encourages them to learn skills to teach children study habits at home.

          FAMILY CAFE - WHAT IS IT?

          This session will focus on a statewide conference that is designed for Flrorida's families of children with special needs.

          An overview of Florida's reading initiative and the parent's role in assisting their children with reading.

            OVERVIEW OF DR. FRED JONES

            Tools for Teaching (Parent Edition) - This is the overview of a ten-session program that will help parents develop positive relationships with their children. Parents and teachers can work together with a common language and set of skills to create the best environment possible.

              AGENCIES AND THE SUPPORT AVAILABLE

              This session will focus on the agencies available and the specific services available.
